Vector Software, the world’s leading provider of innovative software solutions for robust embedded software quality, announced today the availability of its VectorCAST™ Test Automation Platform in the Wind River® Marketplace. The Marketplace offers customers an app store experience where they can research and evaluate best of breed add-on software from trusted partners.
Vector Software, a 15-year partner of Wind River, supports VxWorks® 5.x, 6.x, 7 and VxWorks 653 1.8, 2.x, and 3.0. Together both companies have worked on over 200 projects, and VectorCAST is being used by Wind River’s Professional Services teams in the US, Germany, Romania and China.
“We’re pleased to have an additional channel where we can offer Wind River customers a proven test solution that works seamlessly with VxWorks,” said John Paliotta, Chief Technology Officer at Vector Software. “The VectorCAST–VxWorks integration allows unit and integration tests to be built and run in the same environment where the final application will be deployed. Test results can be captured back to the host using the host file system, the target server file system, or via the target console. We’re excited to offer this type of push button test execution to customers in the Marketplace to help them develop the highest quality applications that go to market sooner.”

“We’re proud to include Vector Software among our partners in the Marketplace as a test option for our customers’ software applications,” said Dinyar Dastoor, vice president and general manager of operating system platforms. “The Marketplace provides partners with a unique opportunity to showcase their products to our vast customer base. Customers have easy access to a wide variety of partner solutions – from safety, security and hardware support to connectivity, graphics/UI, and development tools – that they can evaluate for their current projects.”
Built upon 25 years of business- and safety-critical embedded software test expertise, VectorCAST has a small footprint to support IoT test environments. Its micro harness architecture is designed for the special needs of IoT/M2M applications due to smaller microprocessors and limited resources that are available to these applications. Additional features include Change Based Testing (CBT) and massively parallel testing. CBT empowers development teams to quickly and independently test their code changes at the source code level by only running tests affected by the changes made, significantly improving software test efficiency from days to minutes. As tests are integrated into suites, an enhanced integration with open source continuous integration servers like Jenkins provides users the ability to deploy massively parallel testing over hundreds of servers.
