Snowbound Software, the market leader in document viewing technology, today announced the release of VirtualViewer HTML5 4.0 for .NET, the firm’s award-winning browser-based document viewer. Version 4.0 for .NET introduces new support for CAD (computer aided design) documents such as DWG and DXF files. In addition, the release includes SVG support for high definition, vector-based viewing within the viewer.
The addition of DWG and DXF to Snowbound’s extensive file format library for VirtualViewer HTML5 .NET allows designers and architects to view CAD documents from any device with a web browser regardless of their location. CAD documents are typically used for engineering diagrams and blueprints.
“With the addition of browser-based CAD support, Snowbound is able to meet customer needs across a wider range of markets, including automotive, aeronautical and architectural,” said Snowbound’s Product Manager, Jeff Kurson.
The release also includes SVG support for the .NET viewer so users receive high resolution display at any zoom level when viewing extremely large documents. Snowbound developed its own SVG format conversion technology to improve viewing fidelity as well as improve performance by reducing memory requirements compared to traditional raster documents.
“With VirtualViewer HTML5 for .NET’s new support for SVG rendering, these CAD files, as well as any text-based document such as Word or PDF, display crisply and clearly,” said Kurson. “We are excited for customers to experience this new functionality.”
Snowbound’s VirtualViewer HTML5 document viewer is a pure HTML document viewing solution enabling file retrieval through a universal web application. It does not require any client-side installation or plug-ins such as Flash, Adobe, or Office. VirtualViewer HTML5 works with any standard browser, provides on-the-go mobile document viewing, and delivers flexible cross-platform support. It is available for both Java and .NET.
