Reltio, the enterprise data-driven applications and modern data management Platform as a Service (PaaS) company, today announced that it has earned HITRUST CSF Certification status for information security by the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST) for the market-leading offering, Reltio Cloud. The new certification further underscores Reltio’s commitment to keeping data secure for companies in the healthcare and life sciences industries by complying with the most stringent standards, including those required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
“Reltio is trusted by some of the largest organizations in the world to manage their data, and to provide their employees with the ability to collaborate on, and access information that drives critical business decisions,” said Manish Sood, Reltio CEO. “By achieving HITRUST CSF Certification, we continue to raise the bar on our data security, ensuring that their most valuable data assets are kept safe and secure.”
The HITRUST CSF (Common Security Framework) is a security framework developed to help organizations better understand their information protection requirements and comply with government, federal and third-party compliance regulations and standards, including HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, and NIST. By including multiple standards, best practice frameworks, federal and state regulations, and incorporating a risk-based approach, the HITRUST CSF helps organizations address these challenges through a comprehensive and flexible framework of prescriptive and scalable security controls. Only companies that have met all the industry-defined certification requirements achieve the HITRUST stamp of approval. CSF Certified status indicates that Reltio is appropriately managing risk, placing the company in an elite group of organizations worldwide that have earned this certification.
“HITRUST has been working with the industry to ensure the appropriate information protection requirements are met when sensitive health information is accessed or stored in a cloud environment,” said Chief Compliance Officer, HITRUST, Ken Vander Wal. “By taking the steps necessary to obtain HITRUST CSF Certified status, Reltio Cloud is distinguished as a system that people can count on to keep their information safe.”
Additionally, Reltio appointed Peter Bierfeldt as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who will lead customer security, privacy, validation and compliance efforts. Bierfeldt has more than 20 years of industry experience, including leading complex, large enterprise IT programs and projects. He also has over 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and has managed the global delivery of a multi-million-dollar IT program for a top 10 pharmaceutical organization. Bierfeldt comes to Reltio from Yard 3 Technologies, where he served as Practice Director, leading the Master Data Management, Security, Validation and Compliance Practice. Earlier in his career, he also worked in management consulting at Deloitte Consulting and Agile Software for 10+ combined years, focusing on IT strategy, business process redesign and change management across a wide range of industries.
“The HITRUST CSF gives Reltio an excellent framework for structuring our information security program,” said Peter Bierfeldt, Reltio CISO. “It improves our already strong security policies and procedures, as we continue to meet the most stringent healthcare data management requirements such as HIPAA and HITECH.”
