Lauren Innovations, an Ohio company known for its advanced cloud-based technologies, announces the launch of NaviGate Emergency, a cloud-based crisis preparedness and compliance system designed specifically for healthcare organizations.
Available 24/7 – from any Internet-enabled device – the innovative system efficiently aids hospitals, health systems and other healthcare organizations with meeting regulatory compliance mandates, while improving efficiencies related to overall safety, security and facilities management.
“NaviGate Emergency is a cost-effective, advanced technology that is extremely easy to use and offers immeasurable benefits to a healthcare organization’s safety, security and facilities personnel,” said Lauren Innovations President Jim Hummel. “The technology’s seamless ability to assist with meeting the healthcare industry’s many regulatory compliance mandates from organizations such as The Joint Commission is unmatched.”
NaviGate Emergency securely organizes building facility and compliance information in a highly secure location that is accessible anytime, anywhere. Key features of the system include the ability to upload documents from any Internet-enabled device, view site maps and detailed floor plans that feature photos and icons, and organize content into easy-to-sort, color-coded virtual binders – eliminating the need for paper tracking and hard copy binders.
“Each component of the NaviGate Emergency system works together,” Hummel added. “For example, virtual binder information containing details of life-safety items can be linked directly to life-safety icons located on a hospital’s floor plan, so instantly, a user has everything he or she needs regarding that life-safety item. This feature alone brings tremendous value to facility and safety teams – especially during a regulatory compliance inspection.”
Floor plans can also be used to quickly locate mechanicals, emergency resources, fire-safety items, hazardous materials, and more. Documents can be directly uploaded to floor plans or virtual binders.
For Aultman Health Foundation, a northeast Ohio-based health system with more than 30 locations, NaviGate Emergency’s ability to immediately access this imperative data and information delivers a newfound peace of mind.
“As a cloud-based system, NaviGate Emergency has changed the way our entire Aultman safety and security team functions,” said Chris Feller, executive director for facilities and safety at Aultman Health Foundation. “It’s an all-in-one technology that not only contains our safety data and information, but gives my team around-the-clock access to it – greatly improving their quality of life and offering instantaneous peace of mind that all is as it should be. Additionally, it brings a new dimension of ease in meeting compliance regulations. Now, when the Joint Commission or another regulatory organization visits, we can pinpoint anything they need in seconds – from where our shut-off valves are located to areas containing hazardous materials.”
With real-time access to the NaviGate system, healthcare facilities teams can immediately upload results from inspections and equipment tests, effectively manage inspections and methodically organize compliance requirement documentation in one secure location.
Additionally, the product features an integrated and secure mobile flipchart application. The flipchart app allows around-the-clock access to a healthcare organization’s emergency procedures and offers the ability to implement role-based permissions per employee role or caregiver group, limiting flipchart access as needed. Once loaded, the easy-to-read electronic flipcharts can be viewed from mobile phones or other app-compatible devices – with or without Internet connection.
“In a culture and environment when instant, reliable access is key, the ability to acquire an up-to-date reference from any mobile device is an irreplaceable asset,” Feller added. “And, from a data security standpoint, the flipchart app has several layers and dimensions of security built into it so anytime there is an employee or staff transition or turnover, passwords can be changed and the app deleted as appropriate.”
Aultman has been a Lauren Innovations partner for the past three years and recently worked with Lauren Innovations to develop and launch NaviGate Emergency and its accompanying mobile flipcharts app, which are debuting at The Joint Commission’s 2015 Emergency Preparedness Conference.
