IndependenceIT, an integrated software platform provider allowing IT departments, service providers and ISVs to easily deliver workspaces, applications and desktops as a service, today strengthened its flagship software solution, Cloud Workspace® Suite (CWS) version 4.0, featuring significant workflow management enhancements. Unveiled for the first time at Google Teamwork 2015 in San Diego, the latest upgrade to CWS, makes it the only Workspace-as-a-Service platform to fully centralize multi-datacenter administration. The new capability sets the standard for applying customization to application, desktop and overall workspace delivery, eliminating the need to manually configure large, distributed deployments.
“IT needs to understand where agility can make a difference in application, desktop and workspace-as-a-service solutions,” says Roy Illsley, principal analyst for Ovum Research. “While the technology can reduce capital expenses, the true value is in the ability to impact an organization’s maneuverability in competitive environments. IndependenceIT CWS with its workflow management capability removes the barriers limiting flexibility. It achieves this by enhancing service provider and enterprise responsiveness so that the evolving business requirements can be successfully met without service interruption.”
Cloud Workspace Suite Enhancements
CWS version 4.0 addresses multiple workspace deployment challenges that have impacted the agility and scalability of remote application services for IT service providers and the enterprises they serve. New capabilities include:
• Workspace Virtual VLAN technology, simplifying management of virtual server collections into a single view to streamline task fulfillment requests or workflows;
• Rapid deployment across an unlimited number of virtual data centers (VDCs) within any public, hybrid or private cloud environment;
• Full orchestration and complete administration from a single, centralized pane of glass;
• End-to-end visibility into the underlying health of each individual virtual data center without requiring user logins to the VDC, and
• Granular resource management including software defined firewall management, RAM/CPU entitlements, application customization workflows and server/application template definitions to support instantaneous high volume provisioning.
Version 4.0 makes CWS the ideal platform for global IT service providers managing their own service provider channel or enterprise IT teams with distributed computing environments. The advanced feature set consolidates the logic of remotely managed environments into a single smart management interface, providing simple application and desktop delivery without the resource drain of manual, local management. The capability allows faster request acknowledgement with greater flexibility in meeting business objectives and SLA’s. The highly automated approach results in significant financial savings, allowing IT resource reallocation to other strategic IT initiatives.
“A notable shortcoming of mainstream workspace solutions is their inability to manage multi-site environments under a single view,” said Jonathan Lieberman, CEO, Itopia. “By centralizing control and automating administration of these deployments, CWS reduces administrator reaction time while reducing management related costs. This and other innovations by IndependenceIT have raised the bar for WaaS incumbents as the market leans toward simplicity.”
CWS is software that allows IT administrators to orchestrate and provision all elements necessary for automated, multi-platform, hypervisor/device agnostic workspaces, applications and desktops as a service. CWS has been designed for infrastructure and hypervisor independence and features industry-leading automation and interoperability for ease-of-use. The solution also offers a robust API set for ease of integration with existing customer infrastructure and business support tools. With CWS, IT service providers and administrators
select their preferred cloud infrastructure for globally accessible workspaces across single or multiple clouds matched to business requirements.
“In the complex business world we operate in today, IT organizations must be agile enough to adapt rapidly and maintain cost efficiency at all levels of operation,” said Seth Bostock, CEO of IndependenceIT. “With the superior controls and operational efficiencies of our latest enhancements, IT organizations will realize their technology objectives quickly and easily.”
