Gemalto Simplifies Licensing for NI Customers and Software vendors

02.18.2015

Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, announces that the Sentinel® Licensing Development Kit (LDK) is available on the LabVIEW Tools Network. Having recently acquired the Software Monetization business of SafeNet, Gemalto will join forces with industry partners to help software vendors enhance the user experience and maximize software revenue with a single licensing system.

Using Sentinel LDK with NI LabVIEW software, users will be able to easily deliver, track, and manage end-user entitlements and product usage, while at the same time protecting their applications from reverse engineering, code tampering, and intellectual property (IP) theft. By preventing unauthorized use and distribution of their software, organizations are able to maximize profitability while increasing end-user transparency and reducing licensing support costs. In addition, the solution can help companies eliminate manual operational tasks associated with licensing and introduce new products and features more easily.

“Protecting our goniophotometer software from hacking attempts is fundamental to our business, but challenging to achieve,” said Pasi Manninen, CEO of SSL Resource Oy who recently implemented Sentinel LDK for their LabView application. The fact that the Sentinel solution integrates with LabVIEW is very convenient. We also wanted a ‘future proof’ solution.”

“We pride ourselves on providing engineers and scientists with the platform they need for continual innovation, accelerated productivity and problem solving,” explained Matthew Friedman, LabVIEW Tools Network Manager. “The Sentinel LDK provides our users with IP protection capabilities that helps secure their software with minimal additional effort.”

Shlomo Weiss, senior vice president at Gemalto’s software monetization division, said, “We’re focused on providing software organizations with the most effective solutions to help them monetize their software and protect their IP from theft. Developing this add-on for LabVIEW equips over 35,000 businesses with the features they need, in simple solution, which allows them to maximize operational efficiency and business agility.”

Sentinel LDK provides a comprehensive out-of-the-box software monetization solution which supports Windows 32bit on x86 platforms and leverages both hardware-based and software-based licensing.
