Flexera Software, the leading provider of next-generation software licensing, compliance and installation solutions for application producers and enterprises, announced the latest release of AdminStudio Suite, the industry-leading Application Readiness solution powering enterprises’ processes for application rationalization, packaging, and compatibility testing of physical, virtual, and mobile applications. AdminStudio Suite 2015 is Windows 10-ready, helping organizations ensure a fast, effective and reliable migration to Microsoft’s new operating system and the ability to keep up with the accelerated update and upgrade cadence announced as part of Windows 10-as-a-service.
“Organizations’ have increasingly heterogeneous IT environments and often must support multiple operating systems, such as Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and now Windows 10 — complicating efforts to ensure proper compatibility testing, remediation and repackaging across the entire software estate and across all environments including desktop, datacenter, Web and mobile,” said Maureen Polte, Vice President of Product Management at Flexera Software. “Automating, centralizing and standardizing the Application Readiness process is essential if IT Operations teams are to keep up and effectively prepare applications to reliably deploy on Windows 10.”
Operating system migrations are challenging for most organizations and underscore the need for mature processes and automation around compatibility testing, remediation and repackaging. With Microsoft’s announcement that Windows 10-as-a-service will encompass a regular cadence of updates and upgrades throughout the operating system’s lifecycle, the need for continual Application Readiness will be even more critical. AdminStudio Suite 2015 was engineered to help ensure rapid, efficient and reliable Windows 10 readiness on a continual basis. IT teams can automatically test applications for compatibility with Windows 7, Windows 8, and now Windows 10, and report on the compatibility of all applications. This enables IT teams to know which applications will require fixing before deployment across all their enterprise environments, identify both installation package and application code compatibility issues, and automatically generate standard MSI transforms to fix installation-related issues.
Moreover, as Windows extends to more devices in the enterprise organizations must manage the Application Readiness process for these devices and for Universal Apps developed internally or from the Windows Store. AdminStudio Suite 2015 supports all leading enterprise application formats, and can import modern Windows Universal Apps, test them for compatibility and risk, and distribute them for deployment – using the same process as used to manage desktop apps, and mobile apps for iOS and Android. The solution will also test Universal Apps for compatibility with the latest releases of Windows Phone and automate compatibility testing of mobile apps for error-free deployment to end user devices. In addition, AdminStudio Suite 2015 can look inside Windows Universal App properties and APIs to establish packaging and mobile deployment policies that effectively minimize risk.
In addition to accelerating Windows 10 migrations, AdminStudio Suite 2015 delivers myriad other new features enhancing organizations’ Application Readiness, including:
• Automated Installation Step Documentation: When apps are not properly documented, knowledge is lost about how an application was packaged, leading to slower response times when remediating packages that encounter issues, slower packaging times when working on subsequent versions, and inconsistently packaged apps. AdminStudio 2015 now automatically creates packaging documentation for easy knowledge sharing, making the team more flexible and reducing the time to value when onboarding new team members.
• Distribute App-V 5.0 packages to App-V 5.0 Management Servers: Microsoft App-V supports its own server infrastructure to deploy and stream applications to clients. AdminStudio Suite 2015 automates the distribution of App-V 5.0 packages to App-V 5.0 Management Servers as part of the Application Readiness process.
