BMC, a global leader in IT solutions for the digital enterprise, today announced new capabilities for the Control-M solution to help customers run their businesses more efficiently, adopt innovations faster, and automate at the speed of digital business.
The new capabilities in Control-M, the industry’s leading digital business automation platform, help existing and new customers build, deploy, and manage their business application workflows faster, and with continuity and confidence. By bridging traditional infrastructure, data, and applications to modern digital-first technologies, including multi-cloud, native support for AWS and Azure, big data, file transfers, CI/CD pipeline automation tools, and containers, Control-M users can consume, adopt, and automate these innovations faster than ever.
“In today’s business environment, speed is the currency of digital business,” said Gur Steif, president, digital business automation at BMC. “Companies are driving their digital business transformations while faced with the challenges of diverse infrastructure, disparate data, and accelerated applications. With our latest Control-M capabilities, organizations are able to take advantage of new technologies and innovate at the speed of digital business.”
Deploy innovation faster with Control-M
The goal of every IT organization today is to bring new technologies online quickly and drive adoption with a rapidly expanding community of business users. Control-M customers across all industries are realizing benefits in cost reduction, new revenue generation, risk mitigation, and other strategic benefits as they execute their digital transformation.
With the solution’s near-zero downtime upgrade, Control-M customers can greatly improve business continuity and avoid the time, effort, and cost associated with typical upgrade activities including planning, redundant infrastructure, and scheduled downtime. Early customer results have reported an 80-90% reduction in time when preparing for and executing an upgrade.
“The in-place upgrade feature worked very smoothly, and took away the burden and overhead from the upgrade process with simplicity and reduced downtime. The time and cost savings that this and the other new features will provide to MSA will be substantial,” said Brandon Johnson, senior technical manager, Management Science Associates. “Control-M manages all of our business-critical workloads, and with the new release, those workloads will be more available and perform better than ever before.”
Customers new to the Control-M solution can utilize an enhanced self-conversion capability, making it faster and easier to move from either another automation solution or commonly used scheduling technology like cron, Windows Task Scheduler, and application-provided schedulers, and get up and running more quickly.
Building upon key customer business initiatives around DevOps, big data, and multi-cloud infrastructure support, the Control-M solution’s new capabilities extend the ease-of-use to simplify adoption of new technologies. New capabilities in Control-M include:
• Upgraded Workload Change Manager interface that improves DevOps collaboration and process coordination.
• New web-based reporting tool that speeds report generation for faster response to the business user’s needs.
• Control-M Application Pack that simplifies the deployment experience and reduces update cycle time.
Market-leading workload automation solution
The new enhancements extend the Control-M solution’s leadership position in the digital business automation space, and highlight BMC’s focus to support the challenges organizations face with diverse infrastructure, disparate data sources, and accelerated applications while on their digital transformation journey.
Highlighting the solution’s success, Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) rated Control-M as the strongest product in this year’s EMA Radar™ for Workload Automation Q4 2017 report. Honored with the Best DevOps Support award and named a Value Leader, the solution achieved the highest scores on functionality, architecture, and integration. This level of recognition has also been received in multiple prior years.
“Modern workloads require more sophisticated orchestration as data is collected from a greater variety of sources, infrastructure becomes more software-defined, and business application development and execution becomes more exposed to both technical and business users. The Enterprise Management Associates’ Radar™ Report evaluates leading workload automation (WLA) platforms and the ongoing advancements to meet these market needs,” said Dan Twing, President and COO, EMA. “Control-M has consistently demonstrated its value as the market’s strongest WLA solution since our initial report in 2010.”
