CloudPassage today announced the release of Container Secure, a broad set of automated compliance and security controls for containers. Container Secure is the only solution currently on the market that secures all three parts of container environments: container images, running containers and the container engine/host. The solution, which comes packaged as a core component of the CloudPassage Halo® platform, ensures a monitored and secured containerized environment for enterprises. Container Secure covers five key elements essential to container security: host security, continuous image assurance, runtime configuration assessment, visibility and compliance, and DevOps ecosystem integration.
Containers represent another step in the evolution toward faster application development and delivery. Container adoption at the enterprise level has skyrocketed in recent years due to the ability of containers to provide faster and more uniform application development and deployment. In the 2017 edition of the Portworx Annual Container Adoption survey, 32 percent of responding companies spent $500,000 or more per year on license and usage fees for container technologies, up from a reported five percent in 2016. Industry experts expect container adoption to continue to grow in the coming years.
“Containers are exploding in popularity because they’re fast and efficient. The rapid adoption of containers has created a strategic imperative to secure containers during build-time, before they are deployed into production, and then during run-time.“ said Doug Cahill, senior analyst, ESG. “With Container Secure, CloudPassage is providing robust automated security for every stage and level of container applications expanding protection across workload types for unified host-based security.”
CloudPassage Halo set the standard for cloud workload protection platforms, automating the security of virtual machines (VMs) and hosts across private cloud, public cloud, and data center environments for the Fortune 1000. With Container Secure, CloudPassage now provides the same automated and efficient security for the container ecosystem, delivering visibility, security, and compliance across hosts, VMs, and containers with a single platform and agent.
“Today, CloudPassage Halo is used by leading digital enterprises that are deploying virtual machines across cloud infrastructures and data centers at speed and scale,” said Alok Ojha, Senior Director of products at CloudPassage. “Containers and its ecosystem represent an entirely new attack surface that is disrupting security and compliance processes as they are gaining rapid adoption. Our customers need one platform to protect both hosts and containers running on them, and we are now able to deliver that with CloudPassage Container Secure.”
