Aricent, a global design and engineering company and a leader in virtualized networking infrastructure, announced its ConvergedOS software framework upgrade at Computex 2018 in Taipei, Taiwan today. With enhanced support for the converged edge SD-WAN, multi-access edge compute, web scale data centers, campus and enterprise, industrial networks and connected homes, the release is designed to provide network equipment providers with an advantage to address market challenges faster and more efficiently.
Aricent ConvergedOS brings state-of-the-art control plane capabilities, including programmability, with Representational State Transfer (REST) API and NETCONF, in-band network telemetry with support for Machine Learning and analytics, Aricent virtualized network infrastructure for high availability (vNIX), multi-tenant data center networking, and Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) support for low-latency deterministic Ethernet. The Marvell® Prestera® family of highly-integrated packet processors with advanced network telemetry, virtualized overlay, multi-tenant virtual switching, and the Link Street SOHO family of integrated networking devices with IEEE® TSN support, enable high-density, converged edge designs for data centers, SD-WAN, Backhaul and Fronthaul networks, Industrial and Utility networks, and the connected home.
Aricent ConvergedOS on the latest devices in the Marvell Prestera and the Marvell Link Street families deliver essential features for converged edge applications with support for:
• Extensive Layer 2 and Layer 3 features with highly scalable MP-BGP and EVPN
• Transport switching with Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS, MPLS-TP and Segment Routing
• Aricent vNIX virtualized Network Infrastructure, enabling high-density, scalable, virtualized, multi-tenant networking with Physical and Virtual Network Functions on clustered and stacked data center architectures
• In-band network telemetry, enabling network analytics and Machine Learning to build intent based networks, supported by programmable interfaces
• IEEE TSN support, enabling deterministic Ethernet with advanced Quality of Service (QoS) and low latency for 5G with multi-access edge compute
“Beyond the ability to handle the bandwidth growth, having a scalable edge network with network telemetry is imperative. The Marvell devices offer state-of-the-art switching capabilities with advanced data center and enterprise features,” said Chris Koopmans, executive vice president, Networking and Connectivity Group, Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. “Together with Aricent’s ConvergedOS, we can enable scalable, converged edge SD-WAN designs, programmable networks aided with streaming telemetry, and ultra-low latency networking for multi-access edge compute applications.”
“Network intelligence is rapidly evolving, with software and hardware in lock-step,” said Harmeet Chauhan, President, Software and Internet at Aricent. “Our efforts are dedicated toward helping companies address the new network architecture evolution driven by converged edge SD-WAN, IoT, multi-access edge compute through intent-based networking that runs on the world’s leading chip sets. Our latest release of ConvergedOS gives our partners more opportunities to get to market faster on the leading silicon.”
The Aricent ConvergedOS is a software-defined, intent driven, versatile and performance-optimized networking infrastructure for the data center, enterprise, SMB, industrial Ethernet and service providers. Aricent works with some of the world’s largest network equipment providers to differentiate their products through intelligent switching, autonomous networking and bespoke engineering services.
