Building on the rapid adoption of its breakthrough internal cybersecurity threat detection tool, RapidFire Tools, Inc. announces the next generation of Detector SDS (Service Delivery System). The upgraded Detector SDS 2.0 version of the system gives managed service providers the ability to easily roll-out a range of high-value, pre-configured, automated, and branded internal IT security services across all their clients – or to use the built-in tools to create their own customized offerings. New enhancements allow MSPs to manage and organize service-related tasks, automate service related workflows, and prioritize and route the internal cybersecurity threat alerts. The new Detector SDS 2.0 system allows for “virtual appliance” installs at unlimited sites without additional fees or licenses, so MSPs can deploy it across multiple customers for one fixed monthly charge.
The system’s functions are all accessed through a single, cloud-based portal, which RapidFire Tools has redesigned to accommodate the new capabilities of the solution. All client sites can be managed remotely from anywhere with an Internet connection through the portal, accommodating flexible access for offsite MSPs, and promoting easy collaboration between the MSP and his or her clients.
Enhancements of Detector SDS 2.0 include:
A New, More Affordable “Bronze Level” Service Tier: The previous system provided MSPs with a program to deliver three tiers of pre-configured Internal Security Threat Detection services (e.g., pre-packaged “Silver,” “Gold,” and “Platinum” plans). A new entry-level “Bronze” offering has been added with the new version, giving service providers a low-cost-of-delivery, “introductory” service that can be affordably provided to every client—even those with break-fix or project contract models. With this Bronze level tier – which, like the other levels can be rebranded by the MSP – clients can “self-triage” the alerts and selectively forward issues that need investigation or remediation to the MSP. Managed services providers can then bill for their work in response to the alerts.
Built-in Response Plan Recommendations: In addition to providing specific details about the nature, type, and location of each identified threat, alerts from Detector SDS now include a remediation strategy for MSPs to implement—effectively serving as a built-in “expert system” to speed trouble-shooting and response.
Increased Workflow Options for Threat Alerts: MSPs can configure Detector SDS to automatically respond to threat alerts in a variety of new ways. Depending on the type of alert, the system can:
Generate a service ticket directly in the MSP’s PSA tool
Send a notice to the MSP’s customer for review, much like a credit fraud notification
Route the alert directly to a technician’s inbox for initial triage before creating a service ticket
Log the alert for audit purposes if no action is required
An Upgraded Cloud-based Management Portal: The cloud-based management portal inside Detector SDS 2.0 has been redesigned to provide added functionality, improved workflows, issue histories, and at-a-glance views of service-related to-do lists. MSPs now can easily:
Navigate through all client sites
Toggle between alerts, to-dos, and settings
Review all threat detection alerts
Manage alert-related tasks
Review audit logs of alerts and interactions between technicians and customers
Access and browse scan data from any of the MSP’s Network Detective modules
Once a Detector software appliance is installed at a client site, it performs a daily, non-intrusive scan of the entire network, and any devices connected to it directly or remotely. The solution scans for anomalous user behaviors, unexpected changes to the network, and other internal threats behind the firewall, creating and automating actionable alerts for the MSP. Just as with the original Detector SDS, the enhanced version includes an unlimited-use license to deliver the services across an unlimited number of clients, devices, and end-users. Everything in the system is included in the low monthly subscription fee of $499.
“We pay careful attention to feedback we receive from our MSPs, and we’re constantly working to implement features that will improve the profitability of our solutions,” said Michael Mittel, president of RapidFire Tools, Inc. “The ability to present a greater range of preconfigured, ‘out of the box’ cyber security services through Detector SDS is a key asset for our customers. It’s economical enough that MSPs can include this lower tier as part of their free, base-line offerings to enhance their competitive edge. In addition, the ability to manage those services with greater ease, and to configure specific workflows, create a greater level of automation and functionality that also helps identify fresh remediation projects for our MSPs.”
