BMC today announced that GoPro, CITIC Securities and Produban, a Grupo Santander company, are utilizing BMC’s Control-M Workload Automation to connect Big Data applications to enterprise systems, helping them quickly secure new business insights that provide a competitive advantage.
Control-M Workload Automation enables these customers to speed the deployment and operation of their Big Data solutions. Control-M currently features:

solution for data analytics on distributed computing Hadoop clusters.
Support is also provided for traditional Hadoop applications such as Pig,
Hive, DistCp, and Sqoop.
— The new Control-M Application Integrator, an integrated web design tool
that enables organizations to create native Control-M job types for Big
Data applications and to share these job types via the Application Hub
“Big Data technologies are rapidly expanding our customers’ ability to gain insights that deliver true business process and customer service innovation,” said Gur Steif, president of BMC’s Workload Automation business. “Given the rapid pace of technology development in this dynamic ecosystem, we have developed strong partnerships with other Big Data market leaders, and we completely changed our product innovation process to be able to quickly provide enterprise Big Data workflow capability to meet our customers’ expanding needs.”
GoPro uses Control-M to help automate Hadoop and other Big Data systems within the enterprise. “BMC Control-M coordinates the automated processing of our Big Data,” said Joe Bentley, vice president of engineering at GoPro. “GoPro’s Big Data environment needs workload automation that natively integrates with Hadoop. More importantly, we need workload automation that spans inside and outside of Hadoop.
Control-M is a leader in workload automation, and their expanded commitment to natively integrate with Hadoop and other Big Data technologies is one of the drivers of our success.”
China’s largest investment bank and securities brokerage company, CITIC Securities, uses the Control-M for Hadoop solution. “I am so glad that we selected BMC Control-M as the job scheduling solution for CITICS’Data Governor Platform,” said Weibo Zhuang, operations manager, CITIC Securities. “With native integration for Hadoop, Informatica, databases, and many other applications, Control-M greatly accelerates the deployment of our business critical Data Governor Platform, saving time, money, and speeding up the value realized from our Big Data investment. This success gives our team full confidence in Control-M as the enterprise job scheduling platform for CITICS.”
Produban, a technology company for continuous design and operation of IT infrastructures for Grupo Santander, uses Control-M for Hadoop. “Our project delivers a Big Data cloud service for our customer banks, providing their data and a Hadoop environment that includes data analytics tools,” said Nuno Miguel Portela, IT senior manager. “We have 6,000 Hadoop jobs moving over 150GB of data daily for our first two cloud service customers, and we plan to extend service to the rest of Grupo Santander banks. Control-M has always been a key application for Produban making projects that seemed impossible a reality. BMC has delivered again with Control-M for Hadoop,” continued Produban exec.
“Big Data workflows are growing rapidly in leading-edge organizations,” according to George Gilbert, Big Data and analytics analyst at Wikibon. “When it is time to move to these projects into full production, the challenge is to do so quickly by bridging the world of Hadoop to the existing application landscape. Hadoop support in BMC Control-M workload automation gives customers that capability.”
