The Software & Services Division (SSD) of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal association representing the software and digital content industries, and OPEXEngine, today announced the 9th annual SaaS and Software benchmarking opens April 7 adding new companies to the largest database of private and early stage public company operating metrics in the industry. Beginning today, eligible companies may start participating in the comprehensive benchmarking survey, which adds new investment, sales and marketing, HR and hiring metrics. Software and SaaS companies use the benchmarks to make faster and better operational decisions, critical in the fast paced tech world.
“In our mission to help the software industry grow and compete, the 2015 benchmarking provides mission-critical data for companies navigating dynamic trends in the tech industry,” said Rhianna Collier, vice president and managing director, Software & Services Division, SIIA.
Industry leaders cite hiring and talent management as one of the most important operational issues facing growth companies in 2015, endorsing OPEXEngine to expand its reporting in this area.
“SaaS companies are growing by 50-100% per annum and competing aggressively for talent to keep up with that growth. In addition to the financial and operating metrics that we’ve been providing for the past 8 years, we are adding new benchmarks around headcount statistics for all departments of the company, plus hiring and retention rates, to help vendors compete for talent and plan future hiring needs,” according to Lauren Kelley, CEO and founder of OPEXEngine.
Companies using data driven decision-making grow faster and more efficiently. Benchmarks provide guidelines for budgeting and planning, as well as concrete data for effective management discussions around where to invest resources.
“OPEXEngine’s benchmarking provides us with the data and benchmarks to fine tune and improve our operations, and translate our performance into a highly valuable growth company,” according to Jeremy King, VP of Finance and Operations, InsightSquared a fast growth SaaS vendor of business analytics.
OPEXEngine is also announcing quarterly CFO user group forums meeting on the east and west coasts to discuss operations and growth. Participating companies use the software and SaaS benchmarking to support their annual and 3-5 year planning, validate investments, identify over spending, and understand changing business models in the dynamic software industry. CFOs will share best practices to manage fast growth in the quarterly CFO user group forums, starting in May.
