Salient Upgrades BPM Application for Non-Technical Users
Product Coverage

Salient Corp. is touting “a zero-overhead, self-service, facts-on-demand approach” to business intelligence and performance management with the release of UXT 4.0. The product combines two key components to give users an end-user-driven slant toward business intelligence.

“Salient set out to create a Web-based business performance management solution that delivers the flexibility and ease of use required by business users to support data-driven management strategies without dependency on constant IT report-writing developers,” says Jim McDermott, director of business development for Salient.

UXT plugs into SQL and ODBC-compliant databases and acts as a hub and spoke integration point, McDermott notes. The product includes an analytical processing engine that draws data from internal and external sources, builds a model of the enterprise value creation network, and automatically measures how day-to-day business transactions affect profit and productivity. It also includes the company’s Interactive Miner, integrated visual data-mining technology that empowers non-technical users to take advantage of the product.

“You get a powerful telescope into business performance,” McDermott explains. “You’ll see a clear, coherent picture of where spending works and where it does not. You’ll see details instantly, exactly customized to the situation of the moment.”

Use of UXT can benefit organizations with intelligence coherency, scalability, transparency, and controllability. The product comes with business analysis capabilities embedded in it. Analyses are divided into four groups: comparative views, advanced trend views, exception views, and outlier views.

Targeted at business or government entities with a large amount of information or a high volume of transactions, the UXT Web-based performance management solution is priced starting at $9,000 per year. The full desktop client capability using the Salient Interactive Miner is priced starting at approximately $50,000.

Salient has more than 35,000 customers in 53 countries, including several Fortune 500 companies.
